Network Support

Internal network functionality and internet access is a key element in everyday operations. The network is transparent to most users, but it must work 100% of the time.

Excel Networks offers a Variety of services to help make these key decisions. If you already have a network in place, we will help

Planning the Local Area Network (LAN) - Most companies use a combination of file servers, database servers, print servers and share files with groups which require 100% uptime. Excel Networks can build redundancy into switched/hub technology to allow automatic cutover of a network failure. Some things to consider:

Hub/Switch Ethernet Technology
10/100 Ethernet vs. ATM/Token Ring
BNC/Twisted Pair Cat 5 cabling
High speed desktop network cards
Rack Mounted vs. wall mounted.
Wireless Network

Wide Area Network (WAN) - The WAN will interconnect different buildings and cities together. Excel Networks can research your options and choose the best connectivity plan. Bringing in our consulting expertise will help with the following:

Pulling dedicated wire between buildings.
Using existing wire that may be prelaid.
Using dedicated phone technology such as T1, T3, DSL, etc.
Using existing phone dial up capabilities.

Internet Connectivity - Providing high speed connectivity to an internet provider will establish access to the internet. It is important to choose an Internet Provider based on its ability to deliver the bandwidth (speed) necessary during peak usage hours. Excel Networks can evaluate the Internet Provider's saturation point to eliminate bottlenecks during peak hours. Things to be considered are:

Connectivity of DSL, T1, etc. to your LAN.
Availability of service in area.
Saturation point or bottlenecks.
Network monitoring and notification if the network is down.

Mobil Solutions - The following programs can be used to provide remote access in a small or large environment.

PCAnywhere (Remote Access to LAN)
PPP Connection (Remote Dialup)
Remote Email Access
Virtual Private Network (VPN)
